Description: A rectangular wooden board serves as the backdrop to this composition of a line of soldiers and their sergeant in profile. Six identical, vertical, narrow rectangular wooden forms represent the figures in profile. Five of them are placed in closer proximity to one another, and a wooden hanger arm is attached to each one, representing their arms which swing forward as they march in stride. All of their faces are represented identically. A small white sea-shell represents each of their eyes, a strand of wicker represents the visor of their helmets, a wooden form represents their noses, and a small piece of red felt represents their lips. The sixth wooden form that stands to the left, apart from the others, is the sergeant. The same red felt represents his lips, but a larger, rounded wooden form represents his nose. A green glass bead represents his eye and a half-circular wooden form is placed over the top of his head, representing his helmet.
