Description: Mounted to an organic tree trunk slice is an abstract creature who appears to have very long legs and only a head. The legs are made from organic wooden branches. One extends forward as if the creature is taking a big step. Its head leans back, the brush giving it the appearance of having a blank face and large hair.

Description: This figure is made up of various wood pieces stacked on top of one another to resemble a standing figure with his arm up in a wave. The body is a large hollow wood box. On top if a tall curved piece of wood which is the waving arm. To the left of the arm is several more blocks and a cog to form to the neck. The head is a flat circle with two eyes, a nose, and a thin mouth. The legs are two thin wood blocks.

Description: Side 1: Various wooden forms are assembled to resemble what can be interpreted as a seated person in profile. Among the many shapes that comprise this figure, one can make out a rounded, bent arm, a curved nose, and an alert eye.
Side 2: Various wooden forms surround a vertical black rectangle. The forms are of all shapes and finishes, and emerge at various angles. Several forms can be interpreted as contributing to an overall figure: a mallet-shaped cylinder with two round incisions is perched atop the rectangle like a pair of eyes; two identical rectangles emerge from the bottom of the rectangle like feet, and towering cylinders protrude from the middle of the rectangle like a belly button.

Description: Metal rings join a series of wooden forms in the shape of a limber human body, created to hang on a wall. The head is represented with a wooden shoe last pointed upward and a round, grated wooden form represents the torso. Each arm is represented using a wooden, ribbed, club-shaped form. Both legs are represented by two wooden forms joined at the knee with a metal ring. The pelvis, represented by the heel portion of a wooden shoe last, connects the torso to the legs.

Title: Mrs. Bloom

Materials and Techniques: Iron and wood shoe last, wooden forms, wooden box, plastic tulip bouquet
Description: A long, narrow wooden box with an arch-shaped hollow stands vertically. An iron shoe last attaches to a wooden cylindrical shape forming the legs and body of the figure. The body stands within the hollow of the box. The toe portion of the iron shoe last extends outward beyond the confines of the box. Two identical, arched wooden forms attach to the top of the woman’s body, and meet in front of her torso, representing her arms. A bouquet of red plastic tulips are anchored to the top of the wooden portion of her body, and extend upward through a hole in the top of the box. The tulips stand at attention above the box, as a blooming representation of the woman’s head.

Description: A variety of wooden pieces compose a stylized figure. One long, narrow, hollowed piece of wood, resembling a shaft, extends from the bottom of the head until the waist, connoting the inner piping of a human being. Attached to the sides of this piece are four pieces of wood, which together form the figure’s hourglass shape.

Attached to   the top of this piece is the head that is composed of two pieces of wood that form its circular shape. A thin, circular piece of wood is attached to the center of the head, representing an ear while a small piece of wood extends from the side of the face, representing the nose of a face in profile. The rounded handle of a wooden cane attaches at the figure’s shoulder and curves forward towards to viewer to appear as an arm with a bent elbow. Metal wire is attached to the end of the truncated cane to resemble a hand with five fingers. A circular, black button with a gold border is attached to the ring finger to represent a ring. Three curved, rectangular planks of wood are attached to the bottom of the figure in a horizontally stacked position, continuing the curve of the hourglass shape. Two small, circular wooden pegs are attached on each side of the middle plank of stacked wood, connoting breasts.

Materials and Techniques: Wood salad tongs with bronze cast
Description: A stylized man walks on a round, bronze base. The rounded tong handle represents his head, while the parted tong legs represent the man’s legs. His arms and hands are made from the other tong handle, which is split horizontally in half and then attached to the lower register of the other tong handle. A small segment of each hand is removed, representing fingers.
