Title: Eye Ball to Eye Ball (according to Presentation Portfolio II entitled: NORMAN SUMNER GREEN) Lasting Love (working title)
Date: 1980 (according to Presentation Portfolio II entitled: NORMAN SUMNER GREEN)
Subject: Two lovers kissing
Measurements: 16 ¼” W x 6” D x 11 ¾” H
Materials and Techniques: Wooden forms, toe springs taken from shoe lasts
Description: Attached to each end of a long, cylindrical wooden form are two toe springs taken from shoe lasts. Fishing wire anchored at each end of the cylindrical wooden form draws up the toe form of each spring. This fishing wire pulls the toe forms backward, so that they face one another vertically, thus causing a bend in the springs. These wooden toe forms represent faces of lovers. Round wooden forms represent their eyes, half circular wooden forms that project from their faces represent their noses, and arched forms represent their smiling mouths. Their faces touch intimately. A round wooden base supports this piece.
Signed: “NSG” etched on base
