Measurements: 19 ¼” W x 1/3” D x 17 ¼” H (with frame). 12 ½” W x 10 ¾” H (without frame).
Materials and Techniques: White paperboard, cutouts from reproduction postcards and/or art books, originally a glass covering with a masking tape frame. Now professionally mounted and framed behind glass.
Description: Cut-outs of three men (The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp, 1632, Rembrandt van Rijn, Dutch, Leiden 1606-1669 Amsterdam, The Hague) observe a woman (Bois de la Maison du Jourir, 1902, Paul Gauguin, French, Paris 1848-1903 Atuona, Hiva Oa, Marquesas Islands, Musée D’Orsay) giving birth to a child (baby Christ with wounds, unidentified) by cesarean section.
