Date: 1978
Subject: Two boys
Measurements: 5 ¼”W x 5 ¼” D x 18 ½” H

Description: A boy is depicted carrying his younger brother on his back. Both brothers are each made from a single form with wider, square-shaped tops that represents their heads. Their bodies are represented with the remainder of the form that, on the older brother is long and straight and on the younger brother is shorter and curved. Long, thin forms represent the boys’ arms. The younger brother’s arms are swung around his older brother’s shoulders, and the older brother reaches behind him to provide additional support. Small forms represent the boys’ facial features. The piece is attached to a tall, cylindrical base.
Signed: “N.S.G 1978” etched onto base. “JE” also etched onto base.
Note: Exhibited at Camden Art Centre, 1980. Also exhibited as #12 at Duncan Campbell’s gallery in 1994 and in 1996. Multiple editions of this piece are known to exist, including one with an applied patina on its base (not shown here).
