Description: A thick, oval-shaped wooden block painted black serves as a base for this seated bird. The bird is composed of wooden and metal parts. Two small, metal bracket-shaped forms rest on the top surface of the base and poke horizontally from the front edge of the base, representing the bird’s legs and claws. An upside down wooden masher stands above, representing the bird’s lower and upper body. The masher’s narrow handle was threaded through a circular, metal saw blade, in a manner such that the blade rests horizontally on the masher portion, to represent the bird’s wings. A pointed metal form represents the bird’s neck, head, and beak and a metal coil is attached behind the bird, representing a large, curvaceous tail.
