Subject: Brothers wrestling
Measurements: 9 ¼” W x 2 ¼” D x 2 ½” H
Materials and Techniques: Pieces of wood, wood tongs
Description: Pieces of wood that were formally part of a set of tongs are used to represent brothers wrestling. Both of their heads are represented using the rounded handle of each tong. A hole drilled through each handle represents their eyes. Each tong has one leg that has been cut off and removed, and the remaining piece of wood represents his nose and mouth. The other leg that remains represents each of their torsos as well as each of their hind legs. The leg of the tong that was cut off and removed is attached at an angle to the mid-point of the attached leg of the tong, representing a leg that is extended in front of each of them. These two figures stand facing one another on an upside down sign that is now being used as a small rectangular wooden base. The arms of both figures are made of thin slivers of wood. The shorter figure, the younger brother, stands with his arms straight and held away from the side of his body slightly. His head is bent slightly downward. The taller figure, the older brother, stands with his head bent toward the boy’s forehead. Each of his arms extend toward his little brother at a ninety-degree angle. His hands wrap around his younger brothers’ shoulders in a position to wrestle.
