Date: None
Subject: Abstraction
Measurements: 17 ¼” W x 6” D x 13 ¾” H
Materials and Techniques: Wooden forms, white string
Description: A thin, cylindrical wooden pole extends vertically from the center of a horizontal wooden form that serves as its base. A wooden spoon is attached at the tip of its handle to one side of the base. The curve of the spoon’s bowl faces away from the pole and base. Attached to the opposite end of the base is a rounded wooden form. Nine stands of white, taut string connect all three wooden forms. The strands emanate from one point on the back of the wooden spoon’s bowl, attach to the cylindrical pole at nine different points, and then converge again on the rounded wooden form. The shape of the string resembles a ship’s sail. Two groups of string are tied between portions of the rounded wooden form, forming two triangles.
