The words “Patent No. 1995405” appear on the exposed inner wall of the door, engraved on an upraised plaque. Lined with red felt, the box houses two wooden shoe lasts that are situated with their heels pressed against the box’s edges and bridges facing inward (the usual manner in which shoes are stored in boxes).
