Description: Attached to a rounded wooden base is the form of a rooster. A shuttle represents its legs, a rectangular wooden form with a curved top represents its body and wattles, and a circular wooden form represents its face. A long cylindrical wooden form with a rounded end protrudes from its face, representing its beak.
Signed: “NSG” etched on side of base
Note: Exhibited at Camden Art Centre, 1980. Also exhibited as #21 “Rooster” at Duncan Campbell’s gallery in 1996. Cost: 1,250 British pounds. Based on photographs from the exhibitions, the piece originally had a crescent-shaped wooden form that sliced through the center of the rooster’s body. This form probably represented the rooster’s body and tail.
