Measurements: 16 ¼” W x 16 ¼” D x 29 ¼” H
Materials and Techniques: Wooden forms, Chinese porcelain draining plate
Description: A variety of wooden forms create the form of a person bending forward with his arms touching the ground. Curved, thin cylindrical-shaped wooden forms represent the person’s arms, legs, neck, and torso, which are all attached to a rectangular wooden base. Attached to the tip of the neck is a round wooden form that represents the head and hangs upside-down between its arms. Resting flat on top of the anus, the highest point of this piece, sits a thick, ring-shaped wooden form that frames a blue and white Chinese porcelain draining plate.
Signed: “NSG 90” etched onto side of base
Note: An early photograph of this piece reveals that the draining plate was added at a later date.
