Description: An oval-shaped wooden board serves as the base for this piece. Its surface is painted light blue, representing a body of water and plastic grass lines the perimeter of the base in the shape of a horseshoe. Two ducks rest side-by-side on the water’s surface. Each of their bodies is represented with a wooden shoe last. A wooden spindle represents each of their necks and two wooden shoe lasts are attached at their heel, representing each of their heads and open beaks. The duck on the left’s beak is open wide, while the duck on the right’s beak is partially open.
Signed: “NSG 89” etched onto bottom of base
Note: Exhibited as #16 “Ducks” at Duncan Campbell’s gallery in 1996. Cost: 900 British pounds. In an earlier photograph taken by Norman, a small plastic wreath with two white flowers adorned the back portion of the grass perimeter.
