Description: A wooden half-circle with a curved top serves as the backdrop to this hanging piece. It is painted to represent George Washington’s design for the American flag (red and white horizontal stripes, with a dark blue rectangle in the upper left corner, containing a circle of white stars). A large cylindrical wooden form with an attached propeller-shaped wooden portion is attached to the board, representing George Washington’s head and hair in profile. A ceramic eye is attached to the cylindrical portion of the form, above a rounded area that protrudes from the cylinder, representing his nose in profile. Above his eye, a thin wooden form painted black slopes downward, representing his eyebrow. Two long, thin, horizontal wooden forms stained red represent his lips. A black velvet ribbon is tied in a bow around the propeller portion of the form.
Signed: “NSG 85” etched onto base below black ribbon.
