Description: A vertical, rectangular wooden form frames a collage of smaller wooden forms. A medley of birds and eggs are attached throughout the piece to represent a bird’s sanctuary. Perched on the left upper top edge of the piece is a wicker basket representing a bird’s nest. A wooden mother bird and a baby bird rest inside the nest. Three wooden balls with pointed wooden forms attached representing beaks are painted yellow and attached beside the nest, representing three birds. The piece also features two ceramic birds and eggs adorned with beads. Two wooden eggs are attached within a flat, rounded wooden form, representing eggs within a nest. Below, a white plastic sign reads: “Please Refrain from Feeding Pigeons.” Another wooden bird painted yellow perches to the left of the sign. Below, two small wooden birds poke their beaks out from an alcove, and to the right, a metal bird attached to a wire projects forward.

Note: Exhibited as #19 “Sanctuary” at Duncan Campbell’s gallery in 1994. Cost: 2,800 British pounds. The plaque that reads “Please Refrain from Feeding Pigeons” was added at a later date.
