Description: This piece is formed from six identical, slightly overlapping wooden forms. Each form is the shape, proportion, and orientation of an arched door. In the arched section of each form is a round hole that is the size of a silver dollar. The cutout space of each wooden form reveals the image of a woman’s face from various famous paintings. From left to right, the paintings shown are: unidentified, unidentified (Amedeo Modigilani, Italian, Livorno 1884-1920 Paris), in back: The Mona Lisa (1503-17, Leonardo da Vinci, Italian, Vinci 1452-1519 Amboise, The Louvre), in front: unidentified (Pablo Picasso, Spanish, Malaga 1881-1973 Mougins, France), Nevermore (1897, Paul Gauguin, French, Paris 1848-1903 Atuona, Hiva Oa, Marquesas Islands, The Courtauld Gallery) and unidentified.
