Materials and Techniques: Wooden spoon, white plastic, wooden form painted blue, black marker
Description: A large wooden spoon rests face down on a blue-painted rectangular wooden base that has one side that projects outward in a rounded shape. The rounded side of the spoon, which echoes the rounded edge of the base, rests above it in perfect alignment. The rounded side of the spoon represents the whale’s head. Two pieces of white plastic that are cut into a floral shape and outlined in black marker represent the whale’s eyes, which are located on each side of the upside-down spoon. In addition, the same white plastic is used to represent the whale’s teeth which are exposed in a wide grin outlined in black marker. The curled end of the spoon’s handle represents the whale’s tail.
